Can you explain what your role as Head of Service involves:
Issy: Head of Service involves driving people towards spending their time to help out. So we will drive events such as Walk or wheels to school week or Planting days along side with the eco action team.
Frank: To me, service means committing selfless acts for the greater good without expecting anything in return. It strengthens relationships within the school and supports our school’s culture and goals. As Head of Service, I also support students by monitoring their progress and encouraging participation. Acts of service can happen anytime and anywhere—whether it’s walking to school to reduce our carbon footprint or donating to charity.
Why did you want to become a Head of Service:
Issy: I wanted to become Head of Service to help others and to feel good about what I'm doing to make a positive difference to the world.
Frank: I wanted to be Head of Service because I felt I could make a difference, and I love inspiring others to do the same. Service is important to me because, without it, there would be no one to encourage positive change in our community.
What does ‘service’ mean to you, and why is it important in a school community:
Issy: Service in the school means to me is to change the school to a better place and to know more people are helping the community.
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to become a student leader:
Issy: My top three tips to a student leader would be to always be on top of work, get yourself involved, and of course having a positive attitude.
Frank: My advice to anyone wanting to become a student leader is to always have a clear goal in mind. For example, if you aspire to be Head of Service, take the time to understand what the role involves and actively show your passion for it.
