A place of ambition alongside preparation

Aspiring since 1881, we are committed to providing a balance of tradition and rigour while being curious and adventurous every day. Supported and encouraged by a culture of nurturing, knowing and growing, our students advance on their educational journeys with a solid foundation of academic success and a well-rounded character.

A school structure to supports different ages

Children learn in different ways at different ages. Our school structure is designed to ensure students have the opportunity to make the most of their formative school years. Our students learn in both co-educational (mixed) and single-sex learning environments at times when this best suits their learning styles. Learn more about our school structure.

Balancing traditional values with an energy to move forwards, The Cathedral Grammar School is the start of something extraordinary.

Our students learn from the best right from the start

Every year level benefits from the expertise of our high-calibre specialist teachers across multiple subjects. And with lots of individual attention thanks to small class sizes, every child’s strengths are identified and built on and support provided where and when needed. Plus, our distinct school structure is designed to best suit the different learning styles of both girls and boys at different ages.

A well-rounded curriculum

Creativity and culture play a big role here, with our unique relationship with the ChristChurch Cathedral choir and over 300 individual music and speech and drama lessons enjoyed every week in addition to class time. We’re also a proud sporting school. We provide students with the facilities and encouragement to try their hand at a range of sports and recreation activities.

Charm, confidence and character

We believe a well-rounded character is just as important as academic success and people often comment about the charm, confidence and character of our students when they visit the school. This is a reflection of our dedication to the Anglican faith. Our students see Christianity being lived every day in many ways, including our virtues programme and the school's values that infuse the curriculum.
