The Cathedral Grammar School is proud to host Sing Out!, a free choral workshop bringing together Years 5–7 students and Music teachers from schools across Christchurch for an inspiring afternoon of singing, learning and connection on Thursday 10 September.

Hosted at The Cathedral Grammar School and led by an exceptional team of choral and vocal educators, Sing Out! will give young singers the opportunity to learn from Chris Bruerton, former member of the Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble The King’s Singers; Julian Hay, Director of Voices Co. and one of New Zealand’s leading contemporary vocal and a cappella specialists; and our own Nicola Holt, accomplished soprano, choral conductor and Director of Music at The Cathedral Grammar School.

Throughout the workshop, students will participate in engaging warm-ups, rehearsals and expert vocal coaching, developing their vocal technique, musicianship, confidence and ensemble singing skills. They will sing alongside students from schools across Christchurch, learning and rehearsing together before coming together as one combined choir for a special Showcase Concert for families.

For Cathedral Grammar, Sing Out! is about more than an afternoon of music-making. We are proud to create an opportunity that brings young singers and music educators from across our city together to share expertise, build connections and celebrate the joy of choral music.
